The
Chase
High School Canoe Club started in 1986
as a venture from local high school teachers. They began
with voyageur canoes and expanded to flatwater shortly
after. Chase appeared on the CCA program until 1991.
It is unclear whether the club operated out of Memorial
Park further east, or from the current day boat launch
near Pine Street bridge. Memorial Park seems likely
as the club takes its colours from the iconic Chase
Red Pier. A newer iteration known as the Chase
Canoe Club was meant to be started around spring
of 2007 under Brian Lauzon with eaight canoes and a
trailer provided by the Chase Rotary Club. Today, the
Little Shu Paddlesports organisation offers canoeing
activities to the communities around Little Shuswap
Lake.
