INFORMATION |
The
Thunder Bay Kayak &
Canoe Club formed in 1977 under Atis
Bredovskis. They joined CCA around 1983, appearing on the
program as Lakehead Racing Canoe
Club for two years. After a brief hiatus, they
returned again in 1988 with the assistance of Doug Charters.
Eventually, Lakehead
Canoe Club
was incorporated 1995 as a separate entity from the
recreation and whitewater aspects of TBKCC. In 1996, the
Lake
Superior Canoe & Kayak Club formed as
a rival but lasted only a few years. Lakehead boasts a proud
dragon boat program on top of its sprint canoe and kayak
activities. The club has suffered two fires and continues
to rebuild. |
