INFORMATION |
The
St. Catharines Rowing
Club, founded in 1903, joined the CCA
in 1914. Their first clubhouse, situated 2 km south of the
Henley grandstand, was abandoned in 1915 and lost to ice
encroachment on the pond. The club entered a Junior C1 at
the Western Division championships. During its first decade,
the club was called the St.
Catharines Rowing and Canoe Club in order
to attract more boating enthusiasts. Canoeing dissipated
after WWI but the club continues today with rowing, hosting
major regattas, including the Henley. The club's motto is
"Forge Ahead." |
