INFORMATION
The Valleyfield Canoe Club was founded officially in 1979, competing in the CCA until 1989. The club was also known as Yakocampi. It is possible that the Valleyfield Canoe Club was an extension of, or even alternate name for the Club Nautique de Valleyfield (c1961). Le Club Nautique de Valleyfield still exists today whereas the name Valleyfield Canoe Club and Yakocampi are no longer in use. Regattas were held at Valleyfield as early as 1938 and by 1960, hosted by other Eastern Division clubs (notably, Chateauguay as reported in the Montreal Gazette, August 20, 1960).
