INFORMATION |
Le
Club
de Canoë-Kayak Lac St-Joseph
came into existence as a separate canoe club in 1989/1990,
having been part of the Quebec
Canoe Club from 1945-1990. The club
was originally formed in 1895 as either
Lake St-Joseph Aquatic Association,
or Le Club Nautique
Lac St-Joseph and, according
to the 1909 CCA program, was a one-time member during that
decade. The old clubhouse was destroyed by
fire in 1958, followed by construction of the new building
in 1959. Since 1990, it used two separate facilities: Ontaritzi
and St-Louis (1951) on the same lake. In 1995, the
club officially changed its name to Club
de Canoë-Kayak
Ontaritzi but
changed once again in 2003 back to Lac St-Joseph. The club
ceased its membership again in 2005 but continues to provide
aquatic activities to the community as Le
Club Nautique Lac St-Joseph. Having
suffered another fire in the 2010s, Lac St-Joseph now benefits
from a newly-built clubhouse. |
