INFORMATION
Port Moody Canoe Club was founded in 1967 by Bill Collins, entered the Association in 1969 and received many of their boats from the BC Kayak & Canoe Club. Port Moody was the first BC club to win points at the national championships and competed at the national championships until about 1980 when a powerboat launch was built on the inlet making paddling extremely dangerous. The construction of the Old Mill Boathouse, which now houses the Port Moody Canoe & Kayak Club, traces its roots to the original Port Moody Canoe Club and the Centennial Sailing Association.
