XALINA
Xalina is the Crown Princess of Andaraya, heir apparent and only child of King Xalinor IV. She is fourteen, hates history but loves her best friend Shallar who isn't even human. She will do whatever it takes to protect her people.

SHALLAR
Shallar is a coral boy, one of the underwater races of Andaraya. He has blue, scaled skin and loves Andarayan history so much that he drags Xalina to class with him everyday. His enthusiasm often gets the better of him.

THE DEAN
The Dean of the Royal Academy is an austere woman, authoritative and demanding of both her professors and her students. She likes to get involved in the country's affairs and has a unique perspective of family.

ARA
Ara is Xalina's governess, hired and sworn to protect the princess at all costs. But Ara has other priorities beyond the Royal Family.

Supporting Characters

TALLECH

Tallech is Xalina and Shallar's history professor. He is a bit of a bumbling fool, but clearly loves his subject matter. He assigns them an extraordinary task that leads them into a spot of trouble...

VERRYL

Verryl is the Royal Librarian. She is forced to monitor the princess and coral boy as they reserach their history assignment to ensure that they abide by certain rules.

KOLVER

Kolver is an excommunicated sorcerer from Argezia. He is approached to steal some items and go on a journey that directly affects the main characters' plans.

BUER

Buer is the President of Argezia, a land across the sea which is threatened by invasion from barbarian clans. His talents prove timely for Xalina and Shallar.
