INFORMATION |
The
Ajax
Canoe Club lasted only two years, from 1971
to 1972, with some of its members winning medals at the
national championships. According to coach Fred Heese, the
club was an "ill-conceived offshoot of the West
Rouge Canoe Club." Jim Hobbs was the
first and only commodore. The club folded in most part due
to the limited water facilities on the lake which seriously
affected training. Ajax was sponsored for CCA membership
by Balmy Beach and West Rouge Canoe Clubs. |
