INFORMATION
The B.C. Kayak and Canoe Club was founded in 1966 and was the second Pacific club to join the CCA. The club held a Vancouver chapter on English Bay for multiple disciplines, often using Burnaby Lake for flatwater training, and a Summerland chapter on Lake Okanagan strictly for flatwater racing. The club transferred its boats to Port Moody before folding. This club is not to be confused with the Kayak & Canoe Association of British Columbia which held CCA member status in 1967 (as a conglomerate of BC clubs). There was a Burrard Canoe Club operating on or near English Bay in the late 1970s but it is unclear if they were connected in any way to the BC Kayak and Canoe Club. The Burrard club seems to have vanished into thin air including most of their boats and equipment, although a war canoe found its way into the possession of local police!
