ACHIEVEMENTS
INFORMATION

Organized in 1877, the Brantford Canoe Club was a flourishing sports club in Brantford with over one hundred members. The clubhouse was on the Grand River next to the Armoury on Brant Avenue. They held "round the river" excursions each summer and an annual canoe regatta every September on Mohawk Lake (part of the old canal). It is unclear if the Grand River Canoeing Club was the same outfit, around 1880. Pauline Johnson, the famous Mohawk poet was a member of Brantford CC and regularly attended ACA Meets throughout the early 1890s.
