INFORMATION |
The
Ona-Lac
Canoe Club
started in 1968, founded by Joseph Derochie of Sudbury.
The club began as a sprint club, as Onaping-Levack
Canoe Club, and lasted until 1977.
* Coach and Commodore, Joe Derochie, was ineligible
to race for the 1968 season due to his participation in
the Canadian Centennial Canoe Pageant (1967) from Edmonton
to Montreal. His involvement was deemed professional as
opposed to amateur.
The
Onaping Falls Ona-Lac Canoe
Club still operates today on Windy Lake.
