The
Galt
Canoe Club
was founded in 1884 and was home to at least
two of the McKendrick clan. John became ACA Commodore and
Harry won many titles during his racing years. William,
the third brother, was more closely associated with Ubique
Canoe Club although all three men seem to have been members
of both clubs while they were active. Galt hosted a regatta
in 1890, attended by reporter and budding writer Pauline
Johnson of the Brantford Canoe Club
who was very impressed by the event. |
