Toronto
Island Canoe Club
surfaced in 1978 thanks to the efforts of John Hollins Sr.
and a grant from Wintario. While the new club is clearly
closely associated with the former Island
Canoe Club, due to factors such as
different location, different name and the significant time
period between stints, the two organisations are technically
not the same entity. When the Toronto
Racing Canoe Club folded in 1995, transferring
boats to the Island club, it was seen, by some, to be a
merger of the two clubs. Toronto Island occupies the old
firehall on Ward's Island, complete with ghosts! 1970s
colours: Green, Blue and Yellow on White. |
