INFORMATION
After a devastating fire destroyed the Island Amateur Aquatic Association, the club was reorganised in 1939 as the Island Canoe Club, thanks to the efforts of chief organisers Aubrey Ireland Sr. and Len Johnson. The club eventually folded in 1959-60 (the club's last Trials appearance and CCA medal was in 1959) after the city of Toronto razed houses and forced residents to relocate in the late 1950s. Those members spread along the Lake Ontario coast, founding many more clubs that have since risen to prominence (see Mississauga, Mohawk, West Rouge).
