Tabulation of Points
The Montreal Gazette, Aug 4, 1952, reports that the Toronto Sailing & Canoe Club hadn't won the championship for 39 years, dating back to 1913. This ignores Toronto's 1914 championship and 1926 championship win, as reported in the very same paper, August 9, 1926. The Gazette also awards 33 points to Grand Trunk and 7 to Sudbury whereas "100 Years of Champions" gives 32 to Grand Trunk and 8 to Sudbury. The Ottawa Journal also states that Toronto won its first burgee since 1914, completely ignoring 1926 and the fact that there wasn't a burgee in 1914.
1951 is the first year that long distance events (10 000 m) counted towards the points total for the championship.
