The
margin of victory between the 1960 winning Cartierville
BC and second place Lachine RCC (111) and the 1961
winning Cartierville BC and second place Toronto
Sailing CC (118.5) were CCA record margins until
the introduction of Midget classes in the 1980s,
Womens canoe and 200m events in the 1990s. The current
record margin is 297 points set in 2007. |
The
Quebec Chronicle Telegraph states that 1961 is the
first time in CCA history that a club has won the
championship five times in a row. This ignores Toronto
Canoe Club's 7-year championship run from 1908 to
1914 and probably referes to Cartierville being
the first to win the actual burgee 5 times consecutively.
The 1961 points totals printed in the newspapers
do not perfectly match those listed in the CCA Archives.
The CCA's points records are included here. |

NB: The program for this event states July 29, but
the news reports from July 24 state that the July
23 regatta was the "trial regatta" for CCA
entries. |
