Tabulation of Points
In 1951, the Ottawa Citizen states that "for the first time in the fifty-one year history of the CCA, there was a dead heat for the coveted burgee." Since the burgee was officially introduced in 1927, this is technically true, but invoking the association's history since 1900 blurs the lines and implies that there were burgees from the beginning. The article also states that Balmy Beach hadn't won since 1919 whereas the same newspaper reported in 1920 that Balmy Beach "tied for the aggregate prize."
1951 is the first year that long distance events (10 000 m) counted towards the points total for the championship.
