Le Club
de Canotage de Cartierville Boating Club has
a long history dating back to 1904. The club was incorporated
in 1905 and took out CCA membership in 1908. Cartierville
regularly hosted an annual regatta complete with its own
set of trophies, often hosting the Eastern Divisional Championships
at the same time. They have built rivalries with local club
Lachine and with Mississauga during the 1960s which have
made for intense competitions. Cartierville sent numerous
athletes to the North American Canoe Championships between
1957 and 1977, many of whom were selected to the Canadian
Olympic team. The ‘Carts’ hold the record for
consecutive national championships (nine) and continue to
service the St-Laurent area of Montreal. |
