Two news articles comment on the high winds and strong current that put the records (25 new ones) in doubt for this event. The decision to throw the records out was scheduled for the fall AGM. The points here seem to be including the Women's Open K1 5000m which was not official until 1971.

* The 1970 Ontario Championships were originally slated for Kingston. After being relocated to Ottawa, they were then cancelled. Rideau CC quickly arranged an invitational regatta to take its place but due to lack of funding, all but one WOD club were unable to attend.
