Below
are listed, where known, the champion clubs of the AtlanticDivision club regattas (Nova Scotia).
Only those regattas whose results were published in
the papers or mentioned in publications are included
here. If and when other champions become known, they
will be added to this list.
Although the Maritime Division officially formed in 1960, Inter-Club
Regattas between Banook and Mic Mac had been in place since 1946,
St. Mary's joining in the 1950s. The Inter-Club circuit lasted
5 weeks and took place on Thursday evenings. The five events likely
included four club regattas (which may have included the Canada
Day regatta) plus the Natal Day regatta. Trophies were awarded
at the end of the season for aggregates in each age group.
Many of these regatta results were found in "Paddles
in Time," "Banook Canoe Club: Voices From Our Past"
and the Dartmouth NS Paddling Facebook Group.
1The pattern of 5 Status Regattas seems to have dwindled down
to 3 sometime in the early 90s. The Bantam regattas were definitely
down to 3 by 1989, but it is unclear if it was the same for Midget-Senior. 2
It is unclear when the Halifax Natal Day regatta ceased, but it
was clearly reorganised after a hiatus in 1977.
* The 1964 Mic Mac Natal Day Article states that Mic Mac have
finally won a regatta after 5 years of Banook dominance.
** May have been one of the other regattas, but Sack-A-Wa won
their first in early 1985.
